Paid work, domestic work, planning, childcare, recovery, and invisible labor all belong to the same household ecosystem. The system responds to what is counted and what is ignored.
A mature marriage can be structured without forcing everyone into the same gender script. What matters is duty, stewardship, and reciprocity, not superficial symmetry.
The Audit begins with the part you can actually change. That is not a confession that you are entirely responsible for the whole marriage or for every conflict.
People mature. Roles, fears, conflict habits, and definitions of respect change with time. The goal is not to freeze a couple in a younger version of itself.
Selective accounting can make each spouse feel unseen. A healthier path names the reality, then asks how the system can be redesigned without cruelty or denial.
It does not tell visitors that their spouse is a narcissist, diagnose a marriage, or reward adversarial storytelling. It helps a person move from grievance to clarity without pretending to know the whole truth of another person’s heart.
